Extended Schools Programme.

St Clare's is able to offer an extensive programme of 'Early bird' and 'After school' clubs from the funding allocation we have received from the Extended Schools programme. We usually offer a menu of 15 clubs per week which are open to all age groups. These have included Tai chi, Music, Ballet, Irish dancing, Gymnastics, Library, Environmental care, Art, Homework, Maths, ICT, Circuit training, Athletics, Drama, Camogie, Netball, Singing, Aerobics and several others.

The clubs are wonderful for our pupils for a variety of reasons. They provide:

1. An opportunity to discover new talents and develop new skills.

2. A safe, happy, welcoming start to the day which settles pupils and prepares them well for the day ahead.

3. A context for making new friends from different classes. We now have lots of 'cross year group' friendships which add to the warmth of our school.

Details of all the clubs available can be found in Club letters.

The meet and greet team.

We are the meet and greet team for the clubs. We are the friendly faces that stand at the school gates each morning come rain, hail, or snow to ensure that there is a sunny start to the day for all our 'early birds.' We are Miss Kelland, Miss Vardy, Mrs McCartan and Miss McDonald.

Award for 'Early bird' provision.

At the recent SELB Extended Schools Awards Ceremony, St Clare's received an award for 'Early bird' provision. Mrs Caitriona Hughes SELB co-ordinator paid tribute to the wonderful start to the day that the array of early morning clubs provides for the pupils. The entire school community and especially the 'meet and greet team' are thrilled.
