Principal's welcome

I am Mrs Monaghan. I am the school principal and I am here to make sure that we all do our very best and are happy at school. I am deeply honoured to be the first lay principal of St Clare's and am privileged to follow in the footsteps of my wonderful predecessor, Sr Mercedes Coen and the long line of St Clare's sisters who led the school since its beginning almost two hundred years ago.

St Clare's celebrated its 175th anniversary in the 05/06 school year and is the oldest Catholic primary school in Northern Ireland still existing in its original building. All who work in St Clare's are very proud of this fact and whilst we ensure that our girls have a thoroughly modern education we also do our very best to maintain all the traditional values that are missing from so many aspects of 21st century life. It is this combination of the old and the new that creates such a unique atmosphere in our very special school.

I hope that you enjoy our website and gain a little insight into the many, wonderful experiences our girls enjoy with us.
